My Best Photo

Low Perspective
For this assignment, I think my best photo was the low perspective photo I took of my dog. I think taking this picture from the low perspective gives the picture motion. The eyes start at my dog's face and then move down to her paws. The low perspective also shows the details of my dog's face better than the front lighting picture of her.
I struggled with finding the best lighting for my pictures. When I focused on it for the lighting section of the assignment, I felt my pictures turned out better. However, when I wasn't as focused on the lighting, I felt my pictures did not turn out as well because I wasn't using it to my advantage to show off the details of my subjects.
In the future, I will make sure to always be focused on using the light to maximize the potential of my photos. I will think about how to highlight the subject of my photos before taking the shot and use the techniques we learned here to get the effect I want.

Part 2: Comment on another student's blog
My comment: "I really liked the picture chosen as the best photo from Bella's blog. The bull's eye perspective really captures the details of the roses and the flowers. Seeing straight down into the center of the roses shows highlights the subject of the photo the best. Additionally, the simple background doesn't distract from the subject of the picture. The minimal background was a good choice for this photo to keep the audience focused on the roses."

Hi Shannon! I really like this photograph. I particularly enjoy your use of low perspective since, as you point out, the viewer's eye is drawn down from your dog's eyes to her paws. Your dog is in great focus, and the background of the photo is also interesting, with a lot of varied lines and angles coming from the architecture in the back. I also find it to just be a creative angle in general, and, of course, your subject matter is adorable! I know you also mentioned lighting as a challenge for you throughout the assignment, but I think the lighting in the photo turned out well here, with your dog highlighted by the light and distinguished from the more shadowy background.
